1- Raghunath Anant Mashelkar will head the expert panel set up to recommend best technologies for ‘Swachh Bharat’ national sanitation campaign. He is a former director general of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research.

2- Centre approves launching of the National AYUSH Mission (NAM).
AYUSH stands for ‘Ayurveda’, ‘Yoga and naturopathy’, ‘Unani’, ‘Siddha’ and ‘Homoeopathy’.
It will address the gaps in health services through supporting the efforts of State/UT for providing AYUSH health services/education in the country, particularly in vulnerable and far-flung areas.

3- Centre to launch a major power transmission scheme for Arunachal Pradesh & Sikkim to bring them fully into the grid.

    Both the states have sparse population spread over large area and that leads to loss of power during transmission and distribution in the present set-up.
    Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim mainly relies on outdated 33 KV and 66 KV network which need to be upgraded with advanced 132/220 KV one.
    The project, worth Rs 4754 crore, will translate into proper voltage management and lower distribution losses.

4- The President distributed Rajbhasa awards in various categories on the occasion of Hindi Divas (September 14, 2014). These awards were instituted by the Rajbhasha Vibhag, Ministry of Home Affairs to recognize the excellent contribution of Ministries, Departments and Nationalized Banks etc. in the field of Hindi. The prize, known as Indira Gandhi Rajbhasa Awards, is in circulation since 1988 (for the year 1986-1987).

5- Microsoft acquires a Swedish video game maker ‘Mojang’ for close to $2.5 billion. Mojang a 2009 start-up, is the developer of a popular app ‘Minecraft’.
