1- Tripoli airport falls to Islamists; planes and surrounding buildings set ablaze.

    . The islamist militia, Dawn of Libya, also claims to have captured much of the territory of Libyan capital Tripoli.
    . The seat of legislature has already been shifted to Tobruk (in the far east) with the rebels setting up a competing parliament in Tripoli.
    . Its notable that the rebels draws salaries from the government and wear uniforms but in practice owe their loyalty to respective warlords who are no longer with the government.
    . Libya, with all the infighting, is at the brink of slipping back into civil war.

2- Lesotho lapse into political crisis; prime minister Tom Thabane overthrown by military. Earlier, Tom Thabane was supposed to face a no-confidence vote in the parliament after his deputy and coalition parter withdrew the support. The PM suspended the parliament for nine months to escape the imminent vote-out. 3- Tessy Thomas and Vijayalakshmi Ravindranath become the first Women directors of IIT council.

    . IIT Council is the apex body of all the 16 IITs with union HRD minister as its head. homas, the first woman to lead India’s missile programme, is currently in charge of Agni-4 missile project of DRDO.
   .  Vijayalakshmi Ravindranath, known for her research on neurogenerative disorders, has been instrumental in setting-up the National Brain Research Centre.

4- Goolam E Vahanvati, first muslim Attorney General of India, passes away at 65. He served as such in the UPA-2 regime from 2009-14. 5- Renowned Kathak exponent Maya Rao dies aged 86. 6- Abhiraj’, the fourth in the series of 20 Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs), is commissioned under the administrative and operational control of the Commander, Coast Guard Region (East). The Indian Coast Guard Ship has been designed and built by Cochin Shipyard Limited. 7- Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has launched a Rapid Diagnosis kits for Kala Azar which is quite affordable and easy to use. Kala Azar still prevails as a significant threat to life in eastern part of India. And the government has now come up with a new weapon to deal a death blow to this persistent threat.
