1. The European Space Agency’s Philae lander on the Rosetta spacecraft made its nail-biting, history-making touchdown on the Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko.

2. Ahead of next month’s annual Indo-Russia summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Russian Premier Dmitry Medvedev who said India is a “close and valued” partner for his country.
The meeting with the Russian leader was the first diplomatic engagement of PM Modi on the third day of his 10-day three-nation tour of Myanmar, Australia and Fiji on the sidelines of the two back-to-back India-ASEAN and East Asia summits in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar.

3. Kerala became the first state in the country to have bank accounts for all families under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna (PMJDY). Under the PMJDY, Kerala has opened about 13 lakh new accounts and has mobilised 326 crore rupees through intensive financial literacy campaigns launched under the aegis of the State Level Banker’s Committee (SLBC).

4. RBI has tightened norms for NBFCs. As per the latest directives, RBI has raised the limit for NBFCs to maintain the Net Owned Fund (NOF) requirement to to Rs. 2 crore. At present, the NOF requirement is Rs 25 lakh. In a phased manner, the NBFCs would be required to raise it to Rs. 1 crore by March 2016 and to further double it to Rs. 2 crore by 2017.

5. Two legends of Indian cinema – megastar Amitabh Bachchan and superstar Rajinikanth – will share the dais at the opening ceremony of the 45th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) to be held at Goa Nov 20-30. Newly-inducted Minister of State, Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore Tuesday announced that Amitabh will attend the fest as the chief guest, while Rajinikanth will be conferred with Centenary Award for Indian Film Personality of the Year.

6. In a historic climate change deal, U.S. President Barack Obama and Chinese President Xi Jinping announced both countries will curb their greenhouse gas emissions over the next two decades. Under the agreement, the United States would cut its 2005 level of carbon emissions by 26-28% before the year 2025. China would peak its carbon emissions by 2030 and will also aim to get 20% of its energy from zero-carbon emission sources by the same year.

7. Supreme Court directed the Bihar government to trace 464 missing children in the state. The Bihar government told the apex court that out of 633 missing children, it has managed to trace 169 children. The court was hearing a petition filed by child right activist Kailash Satyarthi.

8. The Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh has considered the difficulties being encountered by the minority community nationals of Pakistan and Afghanistan for submitting their applications for grant of Indian Citizenship. Shri Rajnath Singh has permitted the manual acceptance of applications for grant of Indian Citizenship to such individuals who had entered India prior to 31.12.2009.

9. India’s Virat Kohli joins an elite list of star Ambassadors to provide neccessary support in the build-up to the ICC 2015 World Cup to be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand between February and March. Kohli, Australian pacer Mitchell Johnson, all-rounder Shane Watson, New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum and Sri Lankan veteran Kumar Sangakkara have been appointed ambassadors for cricket’s most-anticipated event.

10. Asserting that the country and ASEAN have “no irritants” in their ties, Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited the 10-nation bloc to be part of the country’s “new” economic journey even as his strong ‘Make in India’ pitch got the support of the grouping.
