1. Indian American novelist Jhumpa Lahiri’s “Lowland” has been shortlisted for this year’s Baileys Prize, the UK’s only annual book award for fiction written by a woman. Earlier known as the Orange Prize, the winner will be announced on June 4 in London and presented with a cheque for USD 30,000. Earlier, the book was also shortlisted for Man Booker Prize.
2. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) projected that the UK economy will be the fastest-growing among G7 countries in 2014. It has projected UK’s economic growth at 2.9% in 2014 and 2.5% in 2015.
3. The Bank of Japan decided to maintain aggressive monetary-easing steps to boost the world’s third-largest economy amid years of deflation. The central bank introduced its monetary easing policy one year ago with the aim of achieving 2% inflation within about 2 years.

7. India Infoline Asset Management Company has appointed Prashasta Seth as its Chief Executive Officer. Seth has over 14 years of experience and has been with the IIFL Group for the past six years.
8. Famous Indian shooter Heena Sindhu secured the World’s Number One spot in 10 meters air pistol event published yesterday. With this achievement, she became the first Indian pistol shooter to secure No 1 rank in the list.
