2. Ukraine’s Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk steps down after his governing coalition collapsed. It will further compound the trouble of war-torn country adding to its instability.
3. India`s first interplanetary spacecraft ‘Mars Orbiter Mission’ completes 80 percent of its journey successfully.
It has successfully covered about 531 million km out of total distance of 680 million km.
The spacecraft is expected to be placed in the Martian orbit on 24th September 2014.
It was launched on November 05, 2013 aboard PSLV-C25.
4. India finished first day with 7 medals (2 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze) in Commonwealth Games 2014. Weightlifters Khumukcham Sanjita Chanu and Sukhen Dey gave the country its first two gold medals.
5. Malabar 2014, joint naval exercise among the Indian, Japanese and US navies begins in the Western Pacific Ocean near Japan. The annual exercise, to take place from July 24-30 this year, enhances mutual maritime security relationships.
6. World Kabaddi League (WKL) inaugurated with 8 participating teams.
The tournament, spanning over 13 cities across five countries, will kick off on August 9 in London.
