1 ) India’s Comptroller & Auditor General (CAG) Shashi Kant Sharma assumes charge as one of the three member of the United Nations Board of Auditors for a six year term upto June 2020.

2 ) 5th India-US Strategic Dialogue to take place in New Delhi from July 30 to August 1 this year.

    External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and US Secretary of State John Kerry will co-chair the meeting.
    It will be the first Cabinet-level meeting between India and the US after regime change at the centre
    Two Countries had launched the ministerial-level strategic dialogue in July 2009, focusing on five pillars of mutual interest, namely: Strategic Cooperation; Energy and Climate Change, Education and Development; Economy, Trade and Agriculture; Science and Technology, Health and Innovation.
    The first such meeting was held in Washington DC in June 2010, followed by successive rounds in New Delhi (July 2011), Washington DC (June 2012) and New Delhi (June 2013).

3 ) Government decides to make hoarding a Non-Bailable Offence : Centre is going to bring amendment to the ‘Essential Commodities Act, 1955’ and ‘Prevention of Black marketing and Maintenance of Supplies of Essential Commodities Act, 1980’ as a preventive measures to control food inflation.

4 ) Centre to bring in Bill to increase FDI limit in insurance to 49% from the existing 26%. : This might help the Insurance sector to attract nearly $7 billion of FDI in coming years.

5 ) National Broadcaster Doordarshan is to come up with country’s first ever (possibly the world’s too) reality show on classical music called ‘Naad Bhed-The Mystery of Sound’.

6 ) All Indian states get 32% of the net proceeds of shareable Central Taxes.

    The proportion of States’ share in Central taxes is recommended by the Finance Commission constituted every five years.
    This share of 32 percent has been fixed by the 13th Finance Commission for the period from April 1, 2010 to March 31, 2015.
