Manabadi Current Affairs 05 September 2014 - 15 ::: 1- HL Dattu to be the next Chief Justice of India; take over from incumbent RM Lodha after September 27, 2014. He will be the 42nd Chief Justice of India. If ‘Collegium System’ comes into effect before his retirement in December 2015, he will be the last CJI to be elected under this structure.

2- India celebrates ‘Teacher’s Day’ today on September 5; world observes ‘International Day of Charity’.

    The day (latter) is observed to laud the efforts of charitable organizations and individuals across the world while organizing events to promote this benevolent practice among masses.
    It marks the death anniversary of Mother Teresa.
    Teacher’s Day, whereas, marks the birthday of second President of India, academic philosopher Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

3- Sachin Tendulkar’s autobiography ‘Playing It My Way’ to be released on November 6, 2014. The book has been co-authored by Boria Majumdar.

4- Centre streamlines visa related services for foreign students studying in India; grants more powers to the Foreigner Registration Offices. At present, there are about 93,300 foreign students studying in the country.

5- Kei Nishikori is the name of the Japanese player who defeated Switzerland’s Stan Wawrinka in the US Open men’s singles quarterfinals to become the first Japanese man in 81 years to reach a grand slam semi-final.
