1. Gujarat gets approval from Narmada Control Authority (NCA) to raise Narmada dam height by 17 metres . The dam will enlarge to 138.62 metres from the present 121.92, enabling the state to get three times more water for irrigation.
2. Vishal Sikka has been appointed as the new CEO of Infosys. He will be the first non-founder CEO of nation’s second-biggest IT outsourcer after TCS. The beleagured company, marred by high-profile exit recently, is trying to revive its fortune through this overhaul.
3. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the only Indian sportsman to feature in the Forbes’ list of world’s 100 highest paid athletes. He is ranked 22nd in the list with total earnings of $30 million over the last 12 months coupled with endorsements worth $26 million in his kitty. The list is topped by American boxer Floyd Mayweather – for the second time in three years – who bagged $105 million last year.

4. State Bank of India, India’s biggest lender, is to subsume its five associate banks in itself to consolidate business. The banks in question are: State Bank of Travancore, State Bank of Hyderabad, State Bank of Patiala, State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur and State Bank of Mysore.
