1. TRAI increases the minimum broadband speed to 512 kbps from the earlier 256 kbps. The decision is result of the amendment in ‘Telecom Consumers Complaint Redressal Regulations 2012' which will henceforth be called as ‘Telecom Consumers Complaint Redressal (3rd amendment) regulations, 2014'. The government aims to raise this limit subsequently to 2 Mbps by 2015.

4. Scientists have come across the fossils of the world’s biggest flying bird known to humans. The giant bird namely “Pelagornis sandersi” has a wingspan of 24-foot – nearly twice as big as Albatross. It used to fly around the earth some 25 to 28 million years ago – before the arrivals of humans but long after the extinction of dinosaurs.

5. India and Britain will soon launch negotiations for civil nuclear cooperation. The decision came in the meet between the respective external affairs ministers. ndia is also trying to get Raymond Varley extradited from the UK. Presently, The total trade volume between the two nations stand at $15 billion. UK is the third largest investor in India.

6. Supreme court gets three more judges in Justice Arun Mishra, Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel and Justice Rohington F Nariman. The total strength of judges, including CJI, now stands at 27. There can, at most, be 31 judges in the apex court.

7. India raise its forest cover by 5871 square km. India can pat its back for spreading the forest cover – albeit minutely – as per the recently released 13th biennial state of the forest report by Environment ministry.
