1- No Managing Directors and Chief Executive Officers over 70 years for Private Banks: RBI

    Though they are free to keep the maximum age-ceiling at any point below 70.
    The instruction is in tune with Companies Act, 2013 that prescribes that all company shall have a person as its head between the age group of 21-70 years.

2- Indian-origin author Neel Mukherjee’s novel “The Lives of Others” is one among 6 books shortlisted for the 2014 Man Booker Prize in fiction category. His first novel, “A Life Apart” was also a critical success winning the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain Award for Best Fiction together with being shortlisted for the inaugural DSC Prize for South Asian Fiction.

3- International Cricket Council suspends Saeed Ajmal for illegal bowling action.

    The Pakistani off spinner was found to be violating the 15-degree arm bending rule.
    He will continue to be out of international action till he moulds his action within the prescribed framework.

4- Bhartendu Harishchandra Awards for the years 2011 and 2012 conferred.

    Original writing in Hindi by Indian authors is the eligibility criteria for the award.
    The government is planning to hike its prize money and to introduce a new category of awards to promote original writings on adolescent girls.
    The awards, surprisingly, were presented for the first time on the birth anniversary of Bharatendu Harishchandra.
    Initially the prizes were given only in Journalism and Mass Communication; three categories namely National Integration, Women’s Issues and Children’s Literature were added later.

5- India is sending a 679-strong contingent for 17th Asian Games 2014 which is to take place in Incheon (South Korea) from September 19 to October 4. The group with 516 athletes plus 163 Coaches and Support Staff will be participating in a total of 28 disciplines as against 35 last time.

6- Delhi is playing host to World Military Dental Conference 2014. The event is being organized by Indian Army at the Manekshaw Convention Centre from September 9 to 11.

7- Renowned Pakistani singer Habib Wali Muhammad breathes his last at 90.
